| James Hondros started
learning to play George at the inception
of Revolver in the summer of 1998.
Although new to the Beatle role, Jim had
been playing guitar in rock bands since
the early 1980s, most notably, original
bands such as The Van Goghs, The
Innocent, and Feast of Fools, all of
which featured his dynamic songwriting
ability. Since then he has played with
many area Beatles tribute Bands as a
self-proclaimed
"Rent-A-George", until being
invited to play with Meet The Beetles
full time. Jim says; "it was upon
discovering Cousin Liz's Beatles
collection that I became a musician in
the first place." He is featured in
Meet The Beetles repertoire singing lead
on over a dozen Harrison songs as well as
contributing his lead guitar talents and
vocal harmonies.
Today, in addition to playing the
George role in Meet The Beetles, Jim Is
founding member of the Rutles Tribute
Band (a Beatles satire) The Yellow
SubMorons.
"I enjoy learning and performing
George's parts. However subtle some of
them are. His contributions to
Lennon/McCartney compositions were
nothing less than incredible. As a
songwriter, George was overshadowed by
the sheer volume of Lennon/McCartney
masterpieces, which when all is said,
does not diminish his ability to write
some real gems. Some of my personal
favorites are, While My Guitar Gently
Weeps, For You Blue, Don't Bother Me,
and, of course, Frank Sinatra's all-time
favorite Love song -- Something."
